IDA; A Romantic Hunting Trip In The Rockies.

Book Supply Co. 1904 Cleveland, 1st edn, 181pp, frontis. A very good copy, front inner hinge sprung; front blank end paper marked with a ballpoint. A book binder could replace this at minimal costs if it bothers. We kept the copy original. Item #008127

Heller attributes the authorship to J. C. Davis, though no explanation is given; the title page itself lists only the initials “J.C.D.” The table of contents includes the following chapters: The Glory of the Way; An Exquisite Metropolis; A Fair Maiden by the Way; The Canons Are the Admiration of the World; A City in the Clouds; The Convalescence of a Tired Brain; A Picture Drive; A Real Rocky Mountain Guide; Camping on Willow River; Campfires; Listening to the Birds; Pard’s Antelope; Luke Buck the Cowboy and His Horse; Elk Hunting; A Black Tail Stag; A November Chill; and The Return of the Exile.

The frontispiece portrays “Ida,” whom the author met in Colorado Springs prior to departing on a two-month hunting trip into the Colorado backcountry. Upon his return, Ida’s affections had been claimed by another—though the author at least secured a fine trophy mule deer from the expedition.

Scarce American hunting item.
