Walter Bell was without a doubt one of the greatest if not the greatest of all elephant hunters that set foot in Africa. This new book of short elephant hunting sketches and experiences in Africa while he was in search of ivory have not ever been published before. Much the same as his first book it gives us vignettes from his incredible adventures and huts as they were between 1895 and 1920 during which he enough ivory to not only make a comfortable living but managed to retire on the proceeds. Besides the fact that these are NEW and unpublished stories they contain numerous original sketches by bell, not used in any of his earlier books. This is a major discovery and we are very proud and happy to offer it here by to our readers. In Reminiscences of an Elephant Hunter, The Autobiography of W.D.M. “Karamojo” Bell has been divided into three parts. Part I is Bell’s life story. Part II has original stories by Bell that have not been published elsewhere. Some of these include: “The Nandi Epic,” “The Somali Virgin,” “A Whaling Project,” “The Film Party,” and “Miscellaneous Misadventures and Reminiscences.” Part III includes some of Bell’s letters; official birth, death, and census records; and his will. This book is not a rehash of Karamojo Safari, Wanderings of an Elephant Hunter, or Incidents from an Elephant Hunter’s Diary. This is Bell’s life story, and it includes about 60 percent more material than can be found in Bell of Africa.
