INCIDENTS FROM AN ELEPHANT HUNTER'S DIARY

Safari Press Inc. 2017 Long Beach, 2nd edn, 298pp, drawings, photos. A fine copy in fine slipcase but with the pages between 285-295 with small machine (?) markings and very small tears, probably a production flaw. Item #007646

Walter Bell was without a doubt one of the greatest if not the greatest of all elephant hunters that set foot in Africa. This new book of short elephant hunting sketches and experiences in Africa while he was in search of ivory have not ever been published before. Much the same as his first book it gives us vignettes from his incredible adventures and huts as they were between 1895 and 1920 during which he enough ivory to not only make a comfortable living but managed to retire on the proceeds. Besides the fact that these are NEW and unpublished stories they contain numerous original sketches by bell, not used in any of his earlier books. This is a major discovery and we are very proud and happy to offer it here by to our readers.
