The author delves into the life of Rowland Ward, his family and his work as a taxidermist during the Victorian era. Illustrated with dozens of period photographs and explanative text. It also contains the history of the Rowland Ward company, both as a publisher and a taxidermy firm. Ward died in 1912 and the firm was taken over by Burlace and around WW II the Best family takes on ownership. All the details are given as well as the ultimate demise in the 1970s when the company finally closed shop and only a store selling gift items and books remained. Interesting reading for the Ward fan.
