Excellent account of dozens of different early White Hunters from John Hunter to Robin Hurt. In all about 75 different individuals covered. Has many hair-raising accounts of attacking leopards, lions, buffaloes, elephants and rhinos. Most of the text concentrates on what these early professionals did in their hunting careers rather than provide biographical material on them. Contains a decent bibliography, source notes and an index. Better written than Tony Dyer's Men For All Seasons but not nearly as well illustrated. A very worthwhile book.
