Major Swayne traveled from Moscow to Mongolia to hunt Altai argali together with H. Seton Karr. He followed in the footsteps of Prince Demidoff who had hunted in the same area some years previously. He obtained sheep, ibex, maral, and Siberian roe deer. One of the better early books on Mongolia that is about as scarce as Demidoff's work. Book contains an appendix on how to outfit a trip to this area.
