NEWFOUNDLAND AND ITS UNTRODDEN WAYS

Arno Press. 1968 New York, 340pp, illus by author, photos, frontis. Fine in fine jacket. Item #001926

Hunting for caribou in Newfoundland. Many interesting sketches made my Millais who was a first-rate artist. In addition, photos of the party in the field and photographs of various heads obtained by Millais during his trip into an area relatively unknown at that time. A well-illustrated book which consists out of several hunting trips to the region over a number of years. The hunting was all on foot and with canoes and the struggle to even find grounds that contained game, let alone shoot an animal, clearly compares with modern times. These hunts were clearly expeditions. Observations on the people and other wildlife.
