Horace Cox. 1891 London, 120pp, 42pp of advertisements, illus, cover decorated with markhor. Very good plus copy with a new cloth spine. Item #001537

Early guide for the hunter seeking game in the Himalayas. Very scarce work that was likely produced in limited numbers. Covers urial, markhor, ibex, goral, thar, bears, etc. Author wrote under pseudonym of K.C.A.J. Czech/Asia: "The first half of this excellent work details the equipment needed for sporting excursions including choice of firearms, cartridge boxes, tools, tents, clothing and the like. There is even advice concerning the wearing of "colored spectacles" when entering the snow country. The second half dwells on the author's experiences hunting black buck, urial, markhor, ibex and other game, though there is little mention of the actual hunting venues. He particularly enjoyed stalking markhor, which he considered the "monarch of the Himalayas."
