DISCOVERY OF LAKES RUDOLF AND STEFANIE; A narrative of Count Samuel Teleki's exploring and hunting adventures in Eastern Equatorial Africa in 1887 & 1888.
Longmans, Green, and Co. 1894 London, 1st English edn, 2 vol, 179 drawings, 5 maps. A very, very, good plus set, gilt bright, cloth bright, light foxing throughout, corners sharp as tacks, new end papers applied to both books. Item #001381
This is the account of Count Teleki's discovery of two major lakes in eastern Kenya as described by his lieutenant, Ludwig von Hohnel. A truly interesting set with exploration and hunting for the big game (rhino/elephant/buffalo) of that area. This set ranks in, our opinion, as one of the most important in the discovery and exploration of new hunting grounds in East Africa. A very scarce work that is considered one of the great books on hunting and exploration of East Africa. We only obtain a set of these books very rarely.
