Comprised largely of the diaries of Lieut. Jack W. Brooke on his 1906-07 and 1907-08 expeditions to determine the source and course of the Tsangpo River. After being refused permission by the British to enter Tibet from Assam he took the known route from Koko Nor over the Tang La to Tibet in 1906, and was turned back. On his second attempt he travelled from Shanghai towards Tibet, much of the time in company with Fergusson, but was killed by Lolo tribesmen of southern Szechwan near the Burmese border. Hunting is for goral, blue sheep wild boar and Takin. Attractively produced book.
