With a new introduction by Frank R. Bradlow. A facsimile reprint of the original 1849 edition, with reproductions of the original hand-colored lithographs. The Kafirs Illustrated, in a Series of Drawings taken among the Amazulu, Amaponda, and Amakosa Tribes; also, Portraits of the Hottentot, Malay, Fingo, and other races inhabiting Southern Africa: Together with Sketches of Landscape Scenery in the Zulu Country, Natal, and the Cape Colony. Each color plate is accompanied by a page r more of text explaining the scene depicted. Written by George French Angas, the noteworthy explorer and artist. Angas wrote three large illustrated travel books, one on Australia, one on New Zealand and this one which Tooley says is the most uncommon in 1st edition. A super addition to an Africa library for a serios collector. As with all Balkema publications the production values of this book are superb.
