Rowland Ward/Trophy Room. 1985-1998, not dated, circa, 12 volumes. Leatherbound, slipcased. Condition of the books is fine with a few of the spines showing some mellowing; slipcases are very good with very minor signs of scuffing. ALL BOOKS HAVE THE SAME LIMITATION NUMBER. Item #006148
From the mid 1980 onward Rowland Ward and Trophy Room produced a series of reprints of classic big-game hunting titles, all of them on Africa, save Demidoff’s book on Mongolia. These reprints, 12 in all, were all limited; from 275 to 775 depending on title, the Demidoff book having the lowest limitation. Of these titles the first 25 books were bound in quarter leather with matching linen boards and matching linen slipcases, top edge of the pages are gilt. The slipcases all have thumb cut outs to facilitate getting the books out. All of these were produced in England; the quality of binding is of very good craftmanship indeed with all books having 5 raised bands on the spines and all of them having the author and titles in gilt as well as the original year of publication at the foot of the spine (save the Siggins). The titles are: Burger, MY 40 YEARS IN AFRICA; Courtney, CLAWS OF AFRICA; Dawkins, ROGUES AND MARAUDERS; Demidoff, AFTER WILD SHEEP IN THE ALTAI AND MONGOLIA; Lyell, THE AFRICAN ELEPAHNT AND ITS HUNTERS; Neumann, ELEPHANT HUNTING IN EAST EQUATORIAL AFRICA; Puxley, IN AFRICNA GAME TRACKS; Rushby, NO MORE THE TUSKER; Siggins, MAN KILLERS I HAVE KNOWN; Sutherland, ADVENTURES OF AN ELEPHANT HUNTER; Taylor, MAN EATERSAND MAROUDERS; Taylor, BIG GAME AND BIG GAME RIFLES. Complete sets of the leatherbound/slipcased editions are rare indeed, we have offered a set like this twice in the last 20 years.
