African exploration from the Niger River in Nigeria to the Nile in 1904 to 1906. The author tried to reach Lake Chad via the rivers Niger and Benue. A lot of hunting was done around Lake Chad where lion, rhino, buffalo and elephant were obtained. There is exploration and travel but several more exciting hunts took place including one for a man-eating lion. In another chapter the author hunts for an okapi in the Ituri forest.
