An account of the author's rash attempt to reach Lhasa in 1897 from the west. A headstrong and arrogant man, Landor wrote a very colorful account of his adventures which were very popular with the public but there were some of his peers who did not quite believe all he wrote about the Tibetans and their treatment of him.
