Authors adventures took place before WW I. The book consists of two parts; lion and leopard hunting along the Okavango river in Botswana in what is a fairly rare early account of hunting in this country on which very little before 1920 exists. Then in the second half of the book the author tells of his exciting East African campaign in Tanzania against the Germans and their General von Lettow Vorbeck.
