Item #001870 KENYA DIARY 1902-1906. Meinertzhagen Col. R.

KENYA DIARY 1902-1906

Oliver and Boyd. 1957 Edinburgh, 1st edn, 347pp, illus. A near fine copy in a very good plus jacket. Item #001870

Col. Meinertzhagen was one of the most interesting characters of Kenya's colonial days. He was an army intelligence officer during the Mau Mau uprising and served in the Kings African Rifles. Meinertzhagen has become highly controversial in more recent times in that he seemed to have claimed for more deeds than he actually performed (among which is his claim to have rescued one daughter of Czar Nicholas in 1918 from the Bolshevists). Very sought after book on colonial Africa. Not primarily a hunting item. Appendix with weights of game animals.

Price: $700.00
