From 1846 to 1852 the author hunted in Tibet and the Himalayas. His quarry consisted of ibex, markhor, and Tibetan argali. Markham is thought to be the first, or one of the first to write on hunting in the Himalayas, making this beautiful early work even more important for the sheep hunter's library. Czech/Asia "An excellent and early work on sport in the Himalayas, this recounts Markham's hunts after tiger in the Dehra Doon, with episodes of hunting thar and serow in the hill country. Near Bengalee, goral and burhel were stalked. In the Jumna Valley, musk deer and burhel were bagged. On a later trip, the author collected ibex in the Asrung Valley and bear near the Coomtee. After traveling through the Parung-la Pass, he hunted Ovis ammon and ibex."
