Introduction by Henry Stanley. Lionel Decle gained fame in his day by making the longest journey at one stretch across Africa, from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean, a distance of over 7,000 miles. He was also the first man to travel from the extreme south of Africa to above the Equator. Author was commissioned by French government to undertake this trip. He traveled from Cape Town to the Zambezi, the north through Tanzania and into Uganda. Along the way there are hunting passages in Uganda for rhino, lion and antelope.
