East Africa. 1933 London, 1st edn, 260pp, illus. A very good plus copy; gilt elephant head on front cover 100% complete (which is rare) gilt n spine dull as usual. Spine, covers in very nice shape, hinges in and out 100% tight. Rear cover with some paper residue of the jacket that was fused to the rear cover at one time. In fact this is the best copy we have seen in 15 years. Item #000375
This book is more difficult to obtain in 1st edition than any of Walter Bell's books. This should tell you something about how good it is! A superb elephant classic that ranks as one of the 10 best titles on elephants ever. Commander Blunt was an elephant control officer in Tanzania in the 1930s. NB: This is the London edition published in the same year as the US edition. As many of the London editions were exported to East Africa, they are said to have been sprayed with insecticide, which shows on most all covers of the copies we have seen. It is rare to even find a copy in very good condition.
