Item #000375 ELEPHANT. Blunt E.

ELEPHANT

East Africa. 1933 London, 1st edn, 260pp, illus. Very clean spine and front cover with excellent definition of the gilt elephant on the front, rear cover spotted. This book is very hard to find with the gilt elephant showing well. Item #000375

This book is more difficult to obtain in 1st edition than any of Walter Bell's books. This should tell you something about how good it is! A superb elephant classic that ranks as one of the 10 best titles on elephants ever. Commander Blunt was an elephant control officer in Tanzania in the 1930s. NB: This is the London edition published in the same year as the US edition. As many of the London editions were exported to East Africa, they are said to have been sprayed with insecticide, which shows on most all covers of the copies we have seen. It is rare to even find a copy in very good condition.
