BIG GAME HUNTING IN EAST AFRICA
Chas. A. Heyer & Co. 1930 (nd, circa) "5th publication" 33pp, 14pp of advertising, drawings, profuse photos. A very good copy, stained, piece missing front cover and subsequent pages, not affecting the text. An VERY hard publication to find, in fact this is the first time we are listing ever. Item #000139
Large, over-sized, advertising brochure for Chas. A. Heyer who used to conduct safaris in Kenya and Tanzania. They apparently used to work in close association with John A. Hunter, Alan Black and Bill Judd as their pictures are used much in the brochure. It, in fact, includes a photo of John Hunter with an elephant he shot. It also includes photos by Blaney Percival. The game list is unbelievable, containing over 150 animals on licenses, and, get this, a three-month safari daily rate was 750-pound sterling. This is an ultra-rare early safari company brochure we have seen for sale but twice in 30 plus years. This is a very early edition as it contains refences to a safari via lorry vs a safari with porters and pack animals, something which was dropped in a later version we once saw in a research library.
